This event is a great opportunity for all sides of the infosecurity sector to come together, network and share experiences of what’s happening, from the research and development labs to the frontline.

As vendors, events like this help to deepen our understanding of the real issues and challenges facing CSOs and IT teams, how our solutions can help address these, and what we can do to enhance our solutions to match customers’ increasingly complex needs.

That complexity is now the leading IT security obstacle faced by organisations.  We recently surveyed over 450 IT security administrators in the UK, which highlighted how businesses struggle with a growing set of security priorities and limited employee awareness about corporate policies.  Managing complex security environments is the most significant challenge facing their organisations, cited by 35% of respondents.

Other security challenges named by respondents were industry or Government compliance mandates (22%);  preventing data loss by employees (20%);  shrinking IT budgets (20%) and enforcing security policies (13%).

A key issue is also engaging end-users in the security process, to help mitigate the risks of security breaches and data losses.  53% of UK respondents believe their organisations’ employees have little or no awareness about their data protection or corporate policies.  Yet employees can play a critical role in being a first line of defence, helping their company enforce stronger security measures and promoting better security awareness.

Survey respondents echoed this, believing the ability to manage policies by user is key to enforcing better security overall, with 52% citing identity awareness as a priority today and in the future.

This is fundamental to Check Point’s 3D Security vision, which goes beyond technologies to raising awareness of today’s security challenges, while providing better visibility and security control to organisations.  By educating end-users and enforcing security policies with a holistic view of the organisation, companies can minimise the complexities associated with security and compliance.
